ABOUT

The Metro Art Club was founded by Omar Richards in the fall semester of 2014. Together with his fellow class mates, who attain a diverse artistic background and experience, the group held their first meeting and established a group of leaders who would strive to lead the club towards its mission.

The goals and purpose of the ESC Metro Art Club, is to create an environment that allows artists to learn and cooperate across art disciplines. “We are a student organization that intends to coordinate and participate in Empire State College Metropolitan Center art events. Working with our advisors the club will arrange exhibits. The club will offer an online gallery for our members. To assist our growth as artists, members agree to critique each others work. As a club, members will visit art exhibits, museums and attend art conventions, to increase our knowledge and nurture our appreciation of the various disciplines of art.”

The club was approved by SUNY Empire State College on December 8, 2014. It’s Leadership Committee at its inception were President Gwendolyn Murph, Vice President/Treasurer Alisa Irby, and Secretary Alexsa Rosa. The club was founded by Omar Richards, who together with the Officers/Leadership Committee, established the base foundation of the organization and constitution. The club’s logo was designed by club member, Anita Sillery,  and approved by SUNY Empire State College on January 12, 2015.
